"Music is much more than a form of entertainment; music identifies races, nationalities and communities. It has far reaching, hypnotic effects on the brain and soul, and can take complete control of the body and mind. Music can determine the mood of a person or a people. After comprehending its profound effects on the mind, it stands to reason that we must beware, for the effects can be good or evil. Music is like a series of thought waves that cause men to think and do right or wrong, wise things or foolish things. In addition to that, there are sounds that destroy ear drums, shatter light bulbs, and crack glass. We must also ask ourselves: is there a mode or musical sound that can destroy the mind? The answer is certainly yes.
There was a sound with God in the beginning; all things were made by sound and without sound nothing was made. From this we know there is creative power in sound, for in Genesis a right sound brought forth life. In order that the people know the importance of sound, God instructed our predecessors to make trumpets to play a certain mode of music for the assembling of the masses. There was also a special music played when it was time to go to war. God evolved the entire success over evil forces around a sound, as He commanded our fathers to play a certain sound if they are under oppression by their enemies. When this sound was heard, He would hear, strengthen and save. Will God not keep His word? Have our musicians considered the true spirituality of music? Have they all gone astray? Are there none that understand? Should we not at least apply this ancient wisdom in our struggle for freedom? There are thouse of evil intentions that are constantly searching the scriptures and manipulating the contents and using these same instructions against us.
In our quest for God, we must bring forth a righteous sound upon the instruments; we must halt the onslaught of music that weakens and destroys. The musicians have forsaken God and the people. They no longer understand their responsibility is not only to entertain and uplift, but also to educate their audiences and our people. The music has to make demands on the people and give them vision."

Behold The Kingdom of Yah on Earth!!!
"And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." Daniel 2:44
Brief History of the African Hebrew Israelites at Jerusalem
In 1966 our spiritual leader, Ben Ammi, had a vision that it was time for the Children of Israel who remained in America (the land of their captivity) to return to the Holy Land (the land of their origin).
In 1967, after almost two thousand years in the Diaspora, four hundred Hebrew Israelites were inspired by the spirit of God to make an exodus from America. According to plan, they settled in Liberia’s interior to purge themselves of the negative attributes they had acquired in the captivity. After spending a two-and-one-half year period in Liberia, The African Hebrew Israelites were prepared to make the last portion of their journey home, returning to Israel in 1969.
In almost 40 years in the Holy Land, the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem have managed inarguable string of achievements: men who are capable, responsible and caring; women who are valued as equals and encouraged to achieve; children who are protected, nurtured and encouraged to grow and appreciate the Creation and respect their role in it; elders who are healthy, vital, revered for their wisdom and knowledge and expected to continue as integral, functioning parts of the community. These are the very tenants that once were the hallmarks of successful, progressive societies. Whatever might be said about the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem, above all, it must be recognized as a tangible, viable and more importantly, righteous, alternative for those who long to see peace, justice, mercy, truth, love.

BLACK COMMUNITY IN ISRAEL BEATS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE .. STUDY CREDITS CLEAN LIFESTYLE
Date:March 29, 1998 Section: News Page: A18 Source: Janet McConnaughey The Associated Press Dateline: NEW ORLEANS Edition: Final
Their families had the history of hypertension and coronary artery disease so common among black people. But 204 black people who moved to Israel and converted to low-fat, low-salt food, no smoking and regular exercise turned that around.
Only 6 percent had high blood pressure - a condition found in 30 percent of all black people in this country. And, while half of all black women and 32 percent of all black men in this country are obese, that was true of less than 5 percent in the African Hebrew Israelite community.
The study by doctors at universities in Nashville is another piece in the puzzle of whether heredity or environment contributes more to the high hypertension rate among black Americans.
"This study comes as close as we have ever been able to come to separating genetics from lifestyle," said Dr. Michele Hamilton, a cardiologist at the UCLA Medical Center. She said she doesn't think there's any question that genetic tendencies combine with diet, smoking, obesity and other "lifestyle features" to make black people more likely than whites to develop high blood pressure.
"But the good news is, even for African-Americans who may have a genetic predisposition, you may well be able to beat that risk by making favorable life changes," she said.
Researchers from Waverly Bellmont Medical Center, Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University went to Israel to study the community, which includes black people from all parts of the United States. The study was presented Friday in a poster session of the Society for Behavioral Research, which is meeting in New Orleans.
The group, considered by many in Israel as a cult, lives on a communal compound and by extremely strict religious rules, following Ben Ami Ben Yisrael, who they believe is the messiah. They were extremely controversial when they arrived in Israel, saying they were the real Jews.
They live in Dimona, in the Negev region of southern Israel, about 25 miles from Beer Sheva.
Spokesman Ahmadiel Ben Yehuda, in New Orleans to speak to the African Heritage Studies Association, said the group is now about 3,000 strong.
It was founded by 332 black people who left this country in 1967 and went to Israel in the early 1970s.
Those founders were the focus of this study. The researchers said 223 agreed to participate, and 204 met the criteria: born in the United States and not pregnant.
They were from all over the country, and 34 percent of them said their families had a history of heart disease, indicating that they are, genetically, a good cross-section of black America, said David G. Schlundt of Vanderbilt, who presented the study.
But their lifestyles are far different from most Americans, black or white. In 1968, they struck red meat from their diet. In 1971, the year they came to Israel, they turned to a vegan diet, eliminating poultry, fish and animal products such as milk or cheese.
A year later, they began fasting on Saturday, their Sabbath. The group does not consider itself religious, believing that religion is man-made, but does believe that Israel, which they consider north Africa, is their ancestral home and that all of the Old Testament commandments and strictures apply to them, Ben Yehuda said.
Since 1973, the community has strongly encouraged exercise at least three days a week, and in 1980 it eliminated salt from the kitchen every other day, on top of a general rule that people shouldn't salt food once it came out of the kitchen.
The group's 30 years of healthy living has effectively prevented obesity and hypertension, and cholesterol levels also were low, the researchers said.
"These changes in lifestyle might prevent chronic disease in American blacks but would be hard to achieve without the unifying power of community and spirituality," the study said.
Although doctors have known for some time that changes in lifestyle can dramatically change the risk of many diseases, "this pins it down nicely," said Dr. Stewart Agras of Stanford.
He said the many changes made do make it hard to tell just what caused what change.
"Only a very complex controlled study could tease apart these various things," he said.
What should the controls be? Two groups which stayed in the United States, one changing its lifestyle and another keeping the same habits, Hamilton suggested.
Yaffa Podbilewicz-Schuller, chairman of the psychology department of the Washington University School of Medicine, would like even more - perhaps a group of black people who had stayed in America, one which had moved to Africa and one in Israel with a different diet.
"But it's a place to begin. It's a beautiful place to begin."

SCLC Leadership Visits Israel to Open Conflict-Resolution Center
President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Charles Steele, Jr., along with several members of the SCLC board of directors, visited Israel in February to inaugurate the Institute for a New Humanity - from Chaos to Community, a conflict-resolution center in Dimona, Israel, with the African Hebrew Israelite community. The center is predicated on the principles espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the practices of the Dimona-based community led by anointed spiritual leader, Ben Ammi.
“Dr. King was an international icon among activists for human rights and champion of non-violent tactics in pursuit of social and spiritual change,” declares President Steele. “During a visit to Israel as part of a congressional delegation in September 2004, I saw King’s vision in practice among the daily lives of the Hebrew Israelites in Dimona,” continues Steele. “Now it is time for SCLC to codify King’s ideals and Ben Ammi’s works.”
The Hebrew Israelites are approximately 2,500 African Americans tracing their heritage to the ancient Israelites of the Bible. They have resided in Israel some 36 years and their settlement in Dimona is also known as The Village of Peace, renowned for its holistic, spiritually-based lifestyle. They have become a haven for visitors from all walks of life, from around the world – including many internationally known personalities, like pop superstar Whitney Houston and Winnie Mandela.
The Institute for a New Humanity ~~ from Chaos to Community will offer courses, counseling and training in resolving differences within families, and between communities, faiths and nations. The premise of the institute is based upon the principles, which inspired Dr. King and fueled the development of The Village of Peace, and will provide the state of Israel with a platform of leadership development in today’s ever-changing world. In the wake of the Israeli government’s recent negotiations with the Palestinian Authority at Sharm-El Sheik, coordinators see possibilities for an expanding role in bringing stability to the region.
The dedication ceremony for the institute was held at 11 a.m. on February 27, 2005, at the School of the Prophets Institute, an independent collegiate-level/continuing adult education center in the Hebrew Israelite settlement. Steele said that the delegation will also continue to lay the groundwork for a peace pilgrimage of 5,000 African Americans to Israel in 2007. According to Steele, this too was a dream of Dr. King’s, who in 1967, sent his aide, Andrew Young, to Israel and Jordan to prepare for the visit. But the outbreak of the Six-Day War and King’s assassination the following year thwarted those plans.
“The establishment of the conflict resolution institute in Dimona is a sign of hope for all humanity,” says Steele. “This is happening at a time of great change!” he continues.
“The title of Dr. King’s last book was ‘Where Do We Go from Here – Chaos to Community,’” says Prince Immanuel Ben-Yehuda, a spokesman for the Hebrew Israelites. “We have committed our lives to answering that question in an affirmative way. All of us in Israel have a responsibility to lead in the quest for peace. This institution is part of our contribution to that effort.”
Steele presented an award to Ben Ammi and the Dimona community for their exemplary accomplishments in community building and non-violent posture in a world so characterized by trauma and conflict.
